Default Windows 7 and SQL Anywhere 9.0.2 - 08-31-2009 , 08:47 PM

There was a thread with a registry setting that fixed the Java error
being produced by Sybase Central 4.3, under Windows 7, and it had to
do with a display setting. I cannot find that thread again, even
though I bookmarked it.

What is the registry setting that some recommended for Sybase Central
4.3 to work under Windows 7? It worked great for us, at beta time,
and we need to find it again as we're not going to buy version 11 just
to be able to use it for Sybase Central with our existing clients.
And since 9.0.2 doesn't go EOL until after Windows 7 is officially
released (October) when will there be a fix in place for this? We're
trying to make a decision on staying with SQL Anywhere or going a new
direction and we're not in a position to upgrade from 9.0.2, before
October's Windows 7 release.

Thanks,

Lisa

As mentioned in the CR page, this isn't actually a bug in our software -
this is a problem with the Sun (now Oracle) Java Runtime Environment on
Windows 7 (and earlier versions of Windows), inside the Swing libraries
while trying to use the "XP Look and Feel" model of the components (
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/...e-summary.html ).

Assuming that the registry workaround is functioning correctly, this
would be best to use while on Windows 7 for 9.0.2 as of right now. We
may or may not fully support Windows 7 on the 9.0.2 release in an EBF
(since the version has already moved into "Limited" status:
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1002288 ). It really depends on actual
release dates of Windows 7 (assuming the launch isn't pushed back by
Microsoft) and a decision from product management.

Regards,
