Default Two questions about services - 11-18-2007 , 01:49 PM

Hi,

I have two questions please.
In my installation script I use dbsvmn50.exe to create a service for
AS Anywhere 8 as I cannot find an equivalent for asa 8.
Is there a newer version of dbsvmn?
Also, is there a way to start the service from a command file (local
system account)? I would like to stop the database for a disc backup
and then start the service again.

Thanks,
Gerry.

Hi,

Sorry, I was a bit too quick to post. I have found dbsvc but the
second question stands.

Thanks,
Gerry.

Gerry,

"net start <servicename>" and "net stop <servicename>" are the Windows
command line utilities used to start and stop services. The name of the
service can be found in the properties of the service in the computer
administration.

In 9.x and later you can use dbsvc -u & -x.
