When a database is run using AES encryption, are the database log files
encrypted also?

According to the following documentation it would appear that the
transaction log is encrypted as well:

Yes. You cannot run dbtran on an encrypted log without providing the key.

is there anyway to query the database to see if a database is encrypted?

Steve,

select db_property('Encryption'), db_property('EncryptionScope')

should show you the database's state.
