Hi Tim,

SQL Anywhere 5.x has not been updated in over 7 years. It has been
End-Of-Life'd as of June 30, 2002 : http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1013108

Obviously, we cannot guarantee that this software will work on Windows 7
since it was released many years after the software was written. Your
"best chance" of getting this to work is to use the latest EBF for 5.5
(see my signature) and possibly use Windows compatibility modes to see
if the server will stop crashing.

Do you have to host this application on Windows 7 or can you use an
older OS to do this? Can you upgrade to a version of our software that
supports Windows 7?

Regards,

SA 5.5.05 has been EOL since June 30, 2002. The last supported operating systems for SA 5.5.05 were
Windows XP and 2000.

If you need to continue using SA 5.5.05 then please refer to the following for OS support:
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1023009

There will be no patch/fix issued or any support provided for SA 5.5.05 on Windows 7. If you wish to
use Windows 7 then you'll need to upgrade to SA 10.0.1 or 11.0.1.

Since it was supported on XP, then maybe setting the compatibility
options on the .exe to Windows XP might help?

You might also try running your app & the database server "as
administrator".

Tim,

AFAIK Windows 7 users may download a VM with XP for MS Virtual PC aka
"Windows XP Mode"

In this environment I think there's a better chance to get SQL 5.05 up
and running. Maybe that's an option for you.

If you find a solution, please let us know here. There are other folks
who use V5.5... one of the reasons Foxhound still supports it.
