Default SQL Anywhere client suddenly cannot connect to server - 12-15-2003 , 08:44 PM

Hi!

We've had an installation up and running for many years, and all of a sudden
1 client cannot connect to the server. Several other clients can connect to
that same server, it's just this one.

It connects okay on NetBIOS, but then we get an error:

NetBIOS - Trying connection on lan adapter: 0
NetBIOS - Failure to connect on lan adapter: 0

Reading previous posts, someone suggested switching to TCP/IP. So I ran
into problems trying to start the server under <ONLY> TCP/IP (see complete
log below)

20:11:35 Using broadcast address of: 172.26.255.255
20:11:35 Error while receiving reply

It starts fine if I don't specify a protocol. If I start the server without
any protocols, then on the client try to connect using only TCP/IP, I get
the error:

Trying 172.26.50.5
No reply received

(see complete log below)

The client can ping the server and even connect to a shared drive on it.

Is it possible there network is blocking the TCP/IP traffic?

--

Here's the log from the client when I try to have the client connect only as
TCP/IP and the server is using all protocols:

1: -o
2: c:\danielclient.txt
3: -Z
4: -x
5: TCPIP{HOST=172.26.50.5;DoBroadcast=NO}

What OS is the client PC that is having problems connecting? For Win2k, you
need to be running 5.5.0.5 Build 2785 or later and for WinXP 5.5.0.5 Build
2817 or later.

XP. Is this build still available? Does the server need to be updated too
or can it be connected to from a newer client?

Maintenance releases (MR) and EBFs can be found at

1. Go to http://downloads.sybase.com
2. Logon to mySybase
3. From the product families list, select SQL Anywhere Studio
4. Locate desired MR or EBF.

NOTE:
1) You may need to expand the Timeframe dropdown and click GO! to locate
older MRs and EBFs.
2) EBFs can only be applied to the appropriate MR. If the EBF is for a later
MR, please update the MR first and then apply the EBF.
