Default SQL Anywhere 9 Stalled Service - 11-02-2007 , 12:56 AM

Hello I would appreciate a little advice here.

I am running SQL Anywhere 9 as a service it was running quite happily until
@ 14:00 yesterday the service stalled (failed to restart)

I have re-booted the server (No change)

I have un-installed and re-installed SQL Anywhere 9 (No Change)

I deleted the service and tried to recreate it resulting in the following
error message "failed to read/open %database path%\database.db"

Has anyone else come across this issue

The database it is running is fine (tested on another server using the same
service parameters) therefore it should be able to read and open the DB file

My next step complete un-install followed by a registry hunt to ensure there
are no registry entries that are left behind and a re-install

Any help would be greatly appreciated

How are you recreating the service? The message "failed to read/open
...." does not appear to be generated by SQL Anywhere.

I'm also concerned about the use of an environment variable with a space
in the name. I believe, in general, it should work but might be
problematic (for example, it works on a CMD command line but not on a
4NT command line). Is that variable properly defined in the environment?

Once you get the service defined, send the server console messages to a
file using the "-o" option and then check that file for useful error
messages.
