Default SQL Anywhere 5 (Yes, 5!) Server install disk - 01-15-2010 , 05:46 AM

Hi.

I'm looking to move some legacy applications from an old server to a
new one and we have, at some point, lost the server software install
disk. We still have the licence activation disks so that's not a
problem, but they're not much use without the installation disk!

I know it's a bit of a long shot but does anyone still have this disk
that we could get a copy of? We need it quite urgently as the server
the software is currently on is currently gasping its dying breath!

Please note that I am NOT asking for any licences for this, just the
install disk itself. :-)

Thanks in advance if you can help!

A Thomson.

You could try Sybase 9. It is able to run sybase 5 ( 5.5 in my case ) files
without converting them.

If the applciation uses just ODBC for connectivity, it might work without
much problems.. If i remember , we had to create a view of some system table
from syabse 5 in 9 and then our app worked without a peep.

You may be able to just copy the files from any
existing system you may still have. After that
set up the system path and any environment
variables you require.

Setting up the ODBC drivers without installing
can be tricky but the required registry settings
to do that manually (I believe) were in the
help file.

Of course going to a newer version makes a lot of
sense if you can handle any application porting issues.
