Default Snow Leopard and Sybase 10 - libjsyblib500_r.dylib - 09-08-2009 , 10:09 AM

Hello. I recently upgraded to Mac OS Snow Leopard, and now I can't
connect to databases using dbisql. Whenever I try, I get:

Cannot find libjsyblib500_r.dylib. The software is not installed
correctly. Reinstalling may correct the problem.

Expected to find libjsyblib500_r.dylib in this path:
/Applications/SQLAnywhere10//System/lib32:
:
..:
/Library/Java/Extensions:
/System/Library/Java/Extensions:
/usr/lib/java

... The file exists in lib32. Any ideas?

There was a fix checked in a while back for the
same error report with a Security Update for
Tiger. If you are running an older version
that 10.0.1 build 3491 you will probably
want to check this one out.

Note: while the fix talks about the dbput9_r library
the original report also had problems with
libjsyblib500_r.dylib when connecting via
a connection profile.

Bug Fix 468631: SQL Anywhere stops working after applying Mac OS X updates
Versions affected: 9.0.0 and later (Mac OS X only)
Versions fixed:
10.0.1#3491
10.0.0#2849
9.0.2#3497
Modules affected: dblauncher, syncconsole, java tools

Customer Description
----------------------------
All of the GUI applications shipped with SQL Anywhere for Mac OS X
(such as InteractiveSQL and DBLauncher) stop working after applying
updates to Mac OS X (specifically Security Update 2007-004) -- the
applications would either crash or display a message similar to this:

The library dbput9_r could not be loaded. This may be because
the provider is being re-loaded (in which case you need to
restart the viewer) or because the library could not be found
in the Adaptive Server Anywhere installation. Service
management will not be available.

Hi Jess,

Are you starting dbisql from the Finder (InteractiveSQL.app) or from the command line? If you're starting it from the Finder, try the command line:

1. Open Terminal.app
2. Run '. /Applications/SQLAnywhere10/System/bin32/sa_config.sh'
3. Run 'dbisql'

Let me know if that works.

Also, I'd be interested in your SQL Anywhere build number, what version of Mac OS you upgraded from, and what you see when you run /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences.app.
