Default Registering Sybase Central plugins of old SQL Anywhere version? - 08-25-2009 , 07:12 AM

Hi all,

is there a way to register the plugin for SQL Anywhere 9 (C:\Program
Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 9\java\asaplugin.jar) into Sybase Central
6.0?

Problem is, that Sybase Central 4.3 (ASA9) does not run on Windows 7,
but Sybase Central 6.0 (ASA11) does. Or are there any other ideas, how
to work with ASA9 on Windows 7?

TIA,
Marc

You should be able to use the SA11 plugin to connect to an older version
of SQL Anywhere - just make sure that you are starting the ASA9 and not
relying on the autostarting the database as that will result in the
database being loaded into an SA11 engine - which does not work.

Hi Chris,

thank you for your reply.

But what about creating, unloading, translating, backing up etc. ASA9
databases? Only with command line? Is there really no backward
compatibility for old versions of SQL Anywhere?!?
