Greg, thanks for replying.

I ended up contacting tech support on it. It turned out that I needed a
different engine name for the ENG= parameter in the OLEDB connection sting.
They set me straight and got it to work.

db..."? Client libraries? ISQL? Sybase Central?

Can you show exactly what connection parameters you are trying to use to
connect to a database and mention which of the databases from the
startup command you are trying to connect to?
