For a start, take a look at the following white paper:
http://iablog.sybase.com/paulley/wp-...08/07/perf.pdf
The whitepaper is for version 10 and up; but the individual performance
issues documented in the latter half of the paper do illustrate the
various types of problems and the server's connection properties and
counters that can be used to determine a direction for your problem
determination.

I have a sqla9 customer where our pb9 app (which is installed on many
workstations and running in client/server mode) will start running
slower and slower until they reboot the sqla9 server. After the sqla9
server is rebooted, app performance returns to normal.
Any thoughts on how I might locate what is causing the slowdown?
Task Manager does not show the server as being heavily used.
Thanks,
