Default ODBC ASA 8x to SQLAnywhere 5x - 11-26-2004 , 09:06 AM

Hi,

Is it possible to create an ODBC connection with ASA 8.x drivers to get
connected to a SQLAnywhere 5 database?

~Luis

No. The communications layer was completely rewritten.

As Chris mentioned, the communication layer was completely rewritten
(between versions 5 and 6).

However, one way to do this is to run the SQL Anywhere 5.x database file
with an ASA 8.x engine. Then you could use the ASA 8.x drivers to talk
to the ASA 8.x engine. You likely won't get as good performance from
this configuration than you will if you unload the 5.x database file and
reload into a new 8.x database file, but you'll likely get similar
performance from what the 5.x engine currently gives you.

Hope this helps,
