I've spent four hours on this and can't figure it out. I had no problems when my network consisted of all Win98 machines. When I added a WinXP machine, however, that machine cannot see the Win98 SQLAnywhere server. isql even doesn't see it. What could be preventing the XP box from seeing the server? - This is a small (2 machine) network with 4-port Linksys router (standard settings, nothing blocked) - Windows Firewall is off, no extra security on XP machine - Both machines are in the same Workgroup, they can see each other's hard drives - I can ping the Win98 machine from the XP box - The ping IP address is the same as the server box dbsrv50 IP address - the reverse also doesn't work: if I start the server on the XP box, the Win98 box can't see any servers on the network. - this used to work no problem when both machines were Win98, is it possible it's just a Win98 issue networking with XP? So if I can ping across the network, why can't a simple client like isql see that there's a server there? Here's startup parameters: -x tcpip -c 4M -m -gd all -gk all -p 1472 -ti 0 -tq 00:00 -n Enroll_Server c:\Enroll\Data\Enroll.db Stumped and frustrated, Mike |

Mike, Does the ASA5.5 installation work at all on the XP machine? Can you acccess a database which runs locally on this machine from ISQL on the same machine? You will need to use SA5.5.05 Build 2787 on Windows XP. Mike wrote: I've spent four hours on this and can't figure it out. I had no problems when my network consisted of all Win98 machines.
