Default Need SQL Anywhere 7 - 10-22-2009 , 06:09 PM

Hello. I see on http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1055872
that I can download Developer Editions of SQL Anywhere
versions 9, 10, and 11. However, the application we're
attempting to install requires SQL Anywhere version 7,
according to our sources.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to obtain (legally and
cheaply) a copy of SQL Anywhere v7?

Thanks in advance. -- Jerry Parrish, Vox Advisors, LLC

Jerry,

you might want to download version 9. That engine will work with
databases created by older versions. For usage with 10 and 11 the
databases will have to be rebuilt. If that is an option for you, give
SQLA 11 a try.

Hi Jerry,

As Reimer suggested, the only (legal and cheap) version that is still
downloadable and that would work with version 7 databases is version 9.

ASA 7 was EOL'd on March 31, 2005: http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1028135

and ASA 9 will be EOL'd on January 31, 2010:

Reimer and Jeff --

Thanks. We were told that we need v7 but will give v9 a
try. Appreciate your advice.
