Default mirrorng/cluster - 10-26-2009 , 03:39 AM

hi,

just wanna clear one q, if i created mirroring with 2
servers(server#1 and server#2) and 1 arbiter and server#1 is
defined as owner is it possible to connect to server#2? in
read-only mode?
my idea is, in mirroring one server is unloaded but it can
be used for requests, would that read-only requests.

it seems ASA has stopped in one step from own cluster.
actually, i need to buy new license for veritas cluster,
setup a huge software just for one service. sure i don't
know server internals but it has sync ,i can't see problem
in two way sync.
even it's problem, server#2 can accept update, send it to
owner and get sync from it. arbiter can get cpu load and
disk activity, so load balancing is here.

Yes, in V11. From the 'What's new in version 11.0.0' section:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Read-only access to databases running on a mirror server

If you are using database mirroring, you can now connect to the database
running on the mirror server. This enables you to offload potentially
resource-heavy reporting operations to the mirror server, while leaving
the primary server available. You can connect to a mirror database by
providing a database server name with the -sm server option that can be
used to access the read-only mirror database. See -sm database option
and Configuring read-only access to a database running on the mirror server.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Dmitri.
