there are lots of threads in this NG to this topic:
Installing different ASA/SA versions on the same box is *very* common.
AFAIK, - besides different installation paths - the only thing to note
is that the ASA tools like DBBACKUP etc. have the same name in all versions.
So if you use them in command batches, you will have to make sure the
correct version is used. You can use the version-specific environment
variables for this task, e.g.
"%ASANY7%\win32\DBBACKUP..."
vs.
"%SQLANY11%\bin32\DBBACKUP..."
