Default How can I release free space and make a db file smalle - 11-22-2004 , 05:49 AM

I have some db files which have grown over time and are, after deleting
data, too big.

Is it possible to 'release' the free space and make the file smaller?

If not, what is the easies way to do that?

Thanks,

marcel

The only way to accomplish that is to unload and reload a database.

Dmitri.

I believe you are referring to the "rebuild" script ("rebuild.bat" on
MS-Windows) which is simply a shell-script wrapper around the dbunload
tool. Alternatively, you can use the Unload Database wizard in Sybase
Central.

Hope this helps,
