Default EBF 3886 for win x64 kills scjview - 12-03-2009 , 03:25 PM

I just installed SA9_Full_WIN_X64.902_EBF_3886.exe on top of my 9.0.2
x64 developer install, and it kills sybase central's startup. When I
try to start sc, I get "The runtime environment could not be found in .
Sybase Central has not been installed properly."

It was working before I installed the ebf.

Nobody has any guesses on this? I tried copying off the registry
entries before installing the ebf and then re-inserting them, but that
didn't help.

If nobody has a suggestion, then I guess the question becomes, Is
9.0.2" going to be certified on Win7 x64? And if so, any idea of the
time frame for it?

Hi David,

The error message: "The runtime environment could not be found in ."
describes an issue in Sybase Central where the registry settings that
point to the JRE information are missing.

Since this is an x64 installation, you should note that the utilities
are 32-bit. As such, all of the settings need to be placed underneath
the _32-bit_ registry area, not the 64-bit area. (e.g.
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow64Node ).

The EBF must have misconfigured the registry somehow on your install if
this broke an existing Sybase Central installation.

---

You can try re-adding this information to the registry to see if this
clears the issue. Place the following information into a .reg file and
add it to your registry:

====================
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow64Node\Sybase\Sybas e Central\4.3]
"Additional Classpath"=""
"Location"="c:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sybase\\Shared\\Sybase Central 4.3"
"Shared Location"="c:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sybase\\Shared"
"Language"="EN"
====================
*Please verify the paths specified above on your actual install.

Engineering is still investigating support and there is no firm
commitment date for support at this time. We cannot make any firmer
commitments than that until QA has passed a build on all tests on Windows 7.

Ok, thanks. As long as they haven't ruled it out yet, then there's
still hope!!
