Default Deployment of ODBC and Tools - 11-06-2009 , 11:46 AM

Hi,

i wann to use the odbc-driver to connect to the database-server on several
clients. Also on 1 client i want to use several tools (sybase central,
interactive sql, dbbackup etc.).

So... i can use the deployment-tool (with SA 11) or the
install-shield-scripts (with ASA 9).

But... what happens if i install an EBF on the server... do i have to update
the clients or will they works without installing the EBF?

regards
Ingmar

In general it is fine to have a newer server than the clients, but not
the other way around.

So this should be fine.

Just to add:

The readme for each EBF will tell you if there have been bug fixes to
the client libraries (OBDC, JDBC and the like).
That may give you hints whether it is reasonable to update your clients,
too.

Volker
