Default delay starting sql anywhere with ISA server - 09-28-2009 , 09:38 AM

Hi all,

We have a client that is using ISA server and has all their http
traffic proxied and possibly other traffic but I'm not sure. The
problem is when they start our product on a workstation of this
network it takes about 45 secs before the product starts. If they
disable their network card it starts up immediately. I have done
packet sniffing on the network card during startup and see absolutely
no traffic being caused by our product so my question is; Is there
something within Sybase that is trying to make an http call out and we
are seeing a socket timeout of some type?

FYI, we were using version 8 of SQL Anywhere and this was not
happening, however, on version 11 it is.

Thanks,
Ken

There are a lot of possible features that can be enabled
with V11 that may have not existed in V8 or may have not
been in use.

Are you specifying/using any of these features

-x http?
strong encryption?
LDAP?
Any new switches?
Kerbios?
Mirror database switches?

or any other new ones?

Since there is no traffic to indicate any activity.
What happes when you run dbeng11 with the
same switches? And if that works, dbsrv11
in the foreground (if running as a service/daemon)?

Failing that show cmdlines and build information
