Default Database Server connection limit exceeded - 11-27-2009 , 03:18 PM

Hello,

We run SQL Anywhere 9.0.2.3643 and we get the Database
Server connection limit exceeded error when trying to
connect to a database network server from another machine.

We re-ran dblic.exe and it reported successful update, but
the problem persists.

The following is displayed in the console window:

Looks like the license info is corrupt? We replaced
dbsrv9.lic from another installation, still no success.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

What was the dblic command line that you used?
Was the database engine running at the time?
What were the language settings in the OS when you ran dblic?
What are the language settings in the OS now? Have they changed?

It sounds like the .EXE file may have been broken somehow. When
you are replacing the .LIC file also try replacing the .EXE file that is
matched to that and see if that corrects this part of the issue.

Be careful to run dblic against the .LIC file and not the .EXE; it should
have no effect but there has been some history.

Also make sure all of the software involved is matched by version,
the .LIC file is in the same directory as the .EXE and named the
same (ie dbsrv9.exe to match the dbsrv9.lic). And if none of those
suggestions help, look to see if there are other copies of the
software also on the machine that may be interacting somehow.

As to the fact this is also an authenticated version of the software
there may be something more related to that. I don't remember
if the OEM licensing introduces any restrictions on connections
[when the keys were generated were the number of seats specified?].
If nothing else helped and there appears there may be a problem
related to the OEM-specific binaries then that needs to be worked
on by having the OEM (if not you) contact iAnywhere support and
their sales representitive.
