Default ASA9 over Internet - 10-23-2009 , 03:31 AM

I run an ASA Server v9 on a Windows Server 2003 system (hosted
server).

I want to connect through the Internet from the clients to the server.

The clients use ODBC to connect and under TCP/IP settings
HOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx;DOBROAD=NONE is set.

I can establish a connection with or without the DOBROAD parameter,
it's working but very slow. ( it takes minutes...)

I tested it at two different location, the connection speed itself
can't be the problem. The DB is almost empty.

I think the server tries to connect to the client directly but can't
do it because of the firewalled connection.

Any suggestions?

Robz

I have recently been forced to work with somewhat similar scenario with
sybase 10.

I have found that the bandwidth is not the issue, it is the latencey that
makes it seems to slow. We also found that the syabse 10 is greatly affected
by network monitoring software such as SPECTRA 360. It makes the
applciations using syabse 10 over network very slagish.

My best advise is to "slim" the applications ( if possible ), we had great
success with it reducing loading times from avr of 120 sec to juse 10 sec
over internet.
