Default ASA and the performance monitor - 04-07-2006 , 03:16 PM

Hello folks,

1. the ASA's dbctr7.dll file belongs to the performance monitor.... right?

2. And then, suddenly, ASA 9.0.2 is being installed when ASA 7.0.4 is
running and the installation of ASA 9 says that dbctrs9.dll could not be
registered (and one similar file for mobilink too)

3. The machine has been rebooted

....some weeks passed...

4. ASA 7 has been uninstalled and the machine has been rebooted

Now - can this have a performance impact on something? Is it *required* to
manually register the dbctrs9.dll file to avoid major disasters in the
future?

Thanks for any advice on this

Pavel

Do this Google Groups search...

"ASA 9 install - dlls failing to self register" group:*.sqlanywhere.*

....and read John Smirnios' detailed reply.

Bottom line is, (a) I don't think the performance monitor *counters*
affect *performance*, and (b) if you actually want to *use* the
performance monitor on ASA on that machine, reinstalling Windows and
then ASA 9 is probably your best bet.

On the old machine I have with that problem, I just gave up using
PerfMon... but it's a jab in the nads every time I install ASA and get
those steenking error messages
