Default ASA - network load balanced - 12-10-2003 , 10:31 AM

Hello,

I will apologise for asking this ridiculous question in advance but the
customer is asking, and requires the official response on this one.

Can ASA be network load balanced , as in a database farm with 2 or more ASA
databases involved.

Thanks in advance

Russell J Morgan

I'm not sure I understand the question so if I'm on the wrong track
please let me know...

If you are asking can multiple ASA database Servers access the same
database and can applications connect to one or more of those servers
(like a redirector and web servers) then the answer is no. (though
MobiLink can). The underlying issue is that some percentage of the
database is in memory and this memory needs to be shared.

It has been my experience that these questions are better addressed by
getting a clear understanding of the the "real" business requirement.
Your customer's question obviously presumes a solution to some problem
and I suspect we can meet the business requirements in some way, though
not in they way they have requested.
