Default ASE 12.5.0.3 Asynch I/O on Red Hat Linux AS 2.1 - 09-08-2003 , 11:16 AM

Hi all,

I am experiencing problems when trying to use asynchronous I/O and raw
devices with ASE 12.5.0.3 on Red Hat linux 2.1. (kernel 2.4.9-e.24smp
+ glibc 2.2.4-32.3)

When Asynch I/O are activated on the ASE server the writes to my raw
devices becomes very very slow. When I deactivate the option
everything seems to be fine again. The test I have done consist in
creating a database of 500M of data and 200M of log on raw devices.
With Asynch I/O on it takes hours to initialise the database whereas
it takes only few minutes when the option asynch I/O is off.

Has anyone tested this type of configuration yet?
Any help would be very apreciated.

regards
Caroline
