Default Automate building of sybase dataserver - 01-27-2012 , 07:13 AM

Hello All,

I'm trying to automate building of sybase dataserver using a script.
What are the basic aspects i need to cover before running the script.

Here are the things in my mind:

1) Check the storage is ready
2) validate the storage for minimum basic requirements to build a
dataserver
3) Check memory and other OS related things

can anybody point me some other things I need to consider. Any links
or help is appreciated.

Thanks,
alwaysonnet

You might want to check there is an appropriate user environment setup, but other than that - if you have storage and memory you're good to go.
Most other things will relate to policies and standards at your site - e.g. port numbers, device naming, sizes etc. ...

Remember to take note in your script of where the physical devices are
mounted
to which data directories for the data device file / log device
files.
if you use unix type of os it's in /etc/mtab /etc/fstab
or some other file with *tab , or the mount command.
(to facilitate separate log and data devices)
/sh
