Default ASE installation problem - Fedora core 4 - 02-13-2006 , 03:59 PM

Has anyone been successfully installing ASE 12.3 or ASE 15
on Fedora core 4. I got an error message regarding missing
file libstdc++.so.5.

Apparently, a few people have eperienced the problem. I
have tried every solution I could find from searching the
internet and none of them has worked for me. I was able to
download the missing library from redhat site and was able
to install it. I make a soft link to /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5
as suggested in some of the solutions I found. Still no
luck.

Where did you get the message?

I've got these packages installed and it works for me:
compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.fc4
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.fc4
libstdc++-4.0.2-8.fc4

Make sure that you install both compat-libstdc++ RPM
packages:

compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.fc4
compat-libstdc++-296-2.96-132.fc4

compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.fc4 install fine. The other RPM
depends on libgcc_s.so.1 which exists on the system, but for
some reason the installation process is not finding it. I
set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point to were the file is locate and
I am still getting the same problem.

If the file isn't present in the RPM database on the system
it won't be found. Check that the libgcc-4.0.0-8 (or
similar) is installed correctly:

[pepm01a@gvas1tkc6001 ~]$ rpm -q -l libgcc-4.0.0-8
/lib/libgcc_s-4.0.0-20050520.so.1
/lib/libgcc_s.so.1
/usr/sbin/libgcc_post_upgrade
/usr/share/doc/libgcc-4.0.0
/usr/share/doc/libgcc-4.0.0/COPYING.LIB
[pepm01a@gvas1tkc6001 ~]$
