Hi Oriane,
I hope that you were in a test environment. Since SQL Server 2008 RTM has
not been released, currently all SQL Server 2008 RCx Editions are not
supported. My suggestions here were based on my test before that was based
on SQL Server 2008 CTP6. Regarding your current issue, it may require your
more tests. I recommend that you also remove the following programs from
Add/Remove programs before you install your SQL Server 2008 RC0:
Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files(English)
Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer
These components are also client components that may fail your SQL Server
2008 client tools installation.

I hope that you were in a test environment. Since SQL Server 2008 RTM has
not been released, currently all SQL Server 2008 RCx Editions are not
supported. My suggestions here were based on my test before that was based
on SQL Server 2008 CTP6. Regarding your current issue, it may require your
more tests. I recommend that you also remove the following programs from
Add/Remove programs before you install your SQL Server 2008 RC0:
Microsoft SQL Server Native Client
Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files(English)
Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer
These components are also client components that may fail your SQL Server
2008 client tools installation.
