Are you hitting F5 or the "!" icon (execute button)? Or are you hitting the debug button (looks like a green "play" icon)? One of the first things I do when I install a new copy of 2008 SSMS is customize the toolbar and get that debug button out of there. It reminds me of Query Analyzer's "execute" button and to be honest if I ever have a need for debugging in SSMS I will be able to handle going through a menu to get to it.
