Will you try right clicking on the SSMS icon and Run as Administrator? A customer was complaining about this and UAC was enabled at his side and this worked for him. -- Ekrem Önsoy "James Buist" <JamesBuist (AT) discussions (DOT) microsoft.com> wrote in message news C41FD6E-7B96-49AC-91DE-B1EA7A07CCCD (AT) microsoft (DOT) com...I have just installed SQL2005 on my new 2008 server. I have added the admin user accounts to SQL2005 so I can login using Windows Authentication. I'm running Win2K8 as a DC with all updates and SQL 2005 with SP2 and all subsequent updates. I can't stop and start services from within SQL Management Studio. I get the error the object can't be accessed and I think it is to do with the UAC in Win2K8 but I've turned it off in the user account section. I have changed the Group Policy settings that seem relevent i.e there is no warning on accessing high level objects from the UI when logged in as admin. Are there other GP settings to modify? Any ideas what to check next? |
