Default specify filenames for new db - 07-11-2008 , 03:15 PM

When using SSMS to create a new db , I find the "File Name" boxes to be
greyed-out ...

How to specify .mdf .ldf filenames other than the default ?

Your data (*.mdf) and log (*.ldf) files are named according to the Logical
Names (which are changable) of the data and log files. When you changed your
database files' Logical Names in the New Database window, your physical file
names are changed as well (and this is not going to be seen on the New
Database window but you'll be able to see this after creating your database
and going to its properties)
