Default Slow SQL 2000 Network Backup time in Win 2K Adv Srv - 07-03-2003 , 07:46 AM

We upgraded an NT 4.0 SP 6 Server running SQL Server 2000
to SQL 2000 Advanced Server yesterday. The Daily backups
of our databses to a network location have gone from 45
minutes to 10+ hrs and still running. Is this a common
problem, if so is there a fix or work around? Thanks in
advance.

Copy times seem to be normal. The backup is running at 80
kb/s vs the normal 800 kb/s

You obviously have something wrong somewhere. This is
not normal or common
by any means. What happens when you try to just copy a
file over the net?

Maybe it's not the network then but the disks your trying to read off of.
Have you tried backing up to a local disk and see what happens? Any chance
you have a Raid 5 and one of the disks is bad?
