We're running a WinNT 4.0 server with SQL Server 7. Our development
workstations were either WinNT or Win98 and run the standard set of tools;
Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, etc.
We recently upgraded one workstation to Win2K. When we went to install
the SQL workstation tools off of the Back Office disks, we were informed
that the Windows versions were incompatible. |
There is something which does not sound quite here. Now, I have worked
fairly little with SQL 7, as we jumped directly from SQL 6.5 to SQL 2000.
But I cannot recall having seen the name "SQL Workstation" with SQL 7.
However, I do recall that we had a CD at the office with this very name
for SQL 6.5. And that would indeed explain the error message, since
SQL 6.5 RTM is not supported on Win2000. (6.5 SP5a is required.)
