Hi everyone,

We have been encountering the following message at the end
of the error message when viewing the history of a SQL
Server job after it failed to notify the operators:

"<Specific Error Message> NOTE: Failed to
notify '<operator's email>' via email."

This has happen with single email accounts and
distribution lists, across different SQL Servers 2000 with
SP3. The occurrences of these failures to notify are
random, happening on jobs that otherwise have been sending
the failure notifications regularly. The jobs are usually
scheduled to run after hours. No changes to the jobs
and/or servers have been performed that we are aware of.
When the jobs are rerun they send the notification
correctly if they happen to fail again. Does anyone now
what causes these random failures to notify the operator
to happen and how they can be prevented?
