Hi Charles, To move the tools, is it a matter of Add/Remove Programs to uninstall them and then reinstalling them on the new drive? Yes, you can remove them using that way and reinstall to another drive. Nevertheless, ensure that "Remove SQL Server 2005 instance components" checkbox is NOT selected and only "Workstation Components" is selected from the common components list. Note: Even if you changed the installation directory, some components still will be installed to the drive C: (or whatever your system drive). Some components of SQL Server are configurable (in terms of installation) and some are fixed. I suggest you to see the following link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143547.aspx -- Ekrem Önsoy "Charles Allen" <callen (AT) nospam-bkd (DOT) com> wrote in message news:8D957050-27C7-411C-9FAD-8D161EFB7402 (AT) microsoft (DOT) com... A client installed SQL Server 2005 on his C drive. Unfortunately, the drive has run out of space, primarily due to Windows and SQL Server. I've already moved the tempdb and production databases to a new drive. To move the tools, is it a matter of Add/Remove Programs to uninstall them and then reinstalling them on the new drive? I'll be moving master and other system databases when we can. Thank you -- Charles Allen, MVP |
