Default Index Error in SQL Server Management Studio when accessing a repor - 01-21-2010 , 12:05 PM

Hello,

I am using the SQL Server 2008 Management Studio on both Windows 2003 and
Windows 2008 32 bit editions to manage several SQL Server 2008 installations,
running on Windows 2008 x64. All installations, and the workstation I'm
running the Management Studio on, are fully patched, including Service Pack 1
for SQL 2008.

When trying to use any of the built-in Reports features within the
Management Studio, for example the "Disk Usage" report, the SQL Management
Studio returns this error within the window where the report is to show:

Error:
Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the
size of the argument list.

The problem happens only when trying the report against user-defined database.
The reports work fine against system databases, like master or model.

Does it have anything to do with the fact the user-defined database is in
SQL 2000 (80) compatibility mode?

I have applied the Cumulative Update Package 6 for SQL Server 2008 with
SPK1, which I think contains a fix for similar problem, as described here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/961282

.... but this did not help.

Another glitch, minor, is that the Management Studio, on either 32bit
Windows 2003 or 2008, doesn't display the green "service running" arrow,
within the icons representing instance of remote 64 bit SQL Server 2008 or
SQL Server Agent in the left pane Object Explorer.

Has anybody encountered this problem.
Any help is appreciated.

Regards
Peter

The standard reports will not work against a database in anything less than
90 compatibility mode.
