Default Help getting SQL Server 2005 BI Tools working - 04-09-2009 , 01:20 PM

Vista Home Premium, Visual Studio 2008 standard, SQL Server 2005 developer
edition.

I installed SQL server and the business intelligence dev studio didn't
install (I clicked *all* features to do a full install). After hours of
searching I found a suggestion to run the sqlrun_tools.msi - that worked
partially.

Now SQL server management Studio is installed, and it seems like BI was
installed, but clicking it brings up a 'searching for devenv.exe' dialog. I
pointed it to VS 2008, but nothing got integrated... I can't open or create
any BI Projects.

Please help... very frustrated.

Be sure to install VS 2008 SP1. None of the BI tools are installed until
then.

It actually ended up being that I had to explicity tell it to install VS 2005
(it was sql 2005, so it came w/ 05).

It will not integrate w/ VS 2008. If you already have 2008 installed, it
wont install VS 2005 for some reason, even tho it will only work if vs 2005
is installed. *really* dumb if you ask me. You have to run the VS installer
on the dvd by hand for it to work.

-Installing SQL Server 2008.
