Default Authentication for Linked Access database - 08-22-2003 , 06:22 PM






The Access 97 I tried to link to has no login password. Every tiem I tried
to access a table, if gave me the authentication failed error. What should
I do to remedy this?

Here are the steps:
1. Linked servers
2. Linked Access database name (Petrotel in this case)
3. Click on "Tables" to view all Access tables:
Error 7399: OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' reported an error.
Authentication failed.
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0'
IDBInitialize:: Initialize returened 0x800e4d: Authentication failed.]
In Access linked server properties, Security set to:
Local login: sa and Impersonate checked.
