It will have been a short - long wait for some of you

One day a client told me that is only DMC could be portable - then .....

We talked about 'portability' and I found a solution which I think
solves all the problems :
User can create himself a 'Portable' version of DMC (only limitation is that
he needs to have multi copy license)
He can Update it (them) when a new DMC version comes out on a click of a
button
He can delete it(them) when he wants to change the support

I have tried this new version on several USB keys and on memory cards -
funnily it seems that a large 8 Gb is much slower then smaller ones....maybe
here - maybe a question of brand.... this is just for info : try it on
several supports to test speed also

When you create a 'Portable' version no use trying it on the parent host
machine it will not work and a message will inform you of it

Plug it in ANY computer where DMC is not installed and first run will be an
initialisation one - a restart and all is normal

When you finish working on that computer open DMC and 'reset' this Portable
version so as to empty the keys in registry and leave a clean place behind
you

You can then take your USB or whatever to any other computer (or of course
come back to this one also)
a new init and again all is normal

Repeat this process 25 times a day on 25 computers if you want.....ONE at a
time : ie: you cannot have ONE USB and plug it in computer 1 then in
computer 2 etc ... DMC needs to be reseted between each computer
(but you can of course do computer1 reset computer2 reset computer3 reset
computer1 etc ....)

Do not try copying a Portable version it will not work <BG> and it will tell
you so! ..... or if it does please do tell me

Do not try starting first run of a Portable version by double-clicking on a
TPS file - anyway as you are not on an 'installed' version the TPS tables
will not be 'linked' to DMC...but if you do...it will tell you to start it
normally (ONLY for the first run)

Do not try to create a Portable version on another partition of your HD or
even on LAN, it will not work and it will tell you so....

Your XML License file is requested during the creation process and use it
EVEN if it is with an oboslete activation code.....it will work!
(no use trying using your neighbours XML file .... it will not accept it and
again will tell you so).....

For this Portable version I changed another point in DMC : I no longer
copy all files to 'source' dir and 'tps_origine' (except when cloning) like
this no time waisted and no space problem also.....

Another VERY IMPORTANT enhancement in this 1.3.0.1 version is in the ODBC
creation process : too many of you were drowning in DSN's and strings....
Create a new connection ?
A first message will ask you what TYPE of connection you want : Access -
Excel or SQL
If Access or Excel as ONLY those use DSN's a checkbox will open up to ask
wether the SUSTEM DSN is already existing ?

If no then ODBC manager will be opened for you and let you dreate it

Then another message will open up to let you select the DSN to use (filtered
by type so no more scrolling all around the place)

If SQL was selected as type then a new message will come up asking you which
server you want to connect to MsSQL - MySQL etc .....

And that's it! The form is then displayed with all necessary fields pre
filled leaving you with NO ambiguous choices etc ..... fill in the empty
fields (when any) and 'Test'

Reports says all this is VERY EASY and INTUITIVE and USER FRIENDLY.....

In the next version I will do a similar wizard type Data Management main
window 'opening' ......

I also fixed a bug while reading rather complicated TPS tables with arrays
and dimmed fields and Groups and Overred columns etc ..... now there all is
fine

Now we come to the licensing problem of the new Portable version :
It is NOT a feature but a new version
It is not an installer version but a user creates it himself
It was impossible to let this be used in a single license version so ......I
came up with this to help those of you who need and want it to be able to
get their hands on it easily

Till the 31st May midnight : any registered user who purchases an extra copy
licence (reserved to you guys) will receive in return a 3 copy licence PLUS
all 3 copies will have a valid ONE FULL YEAR Maintenance Plan renewal
included in them from this date of purchase
As most of you bought in October-Jan this means you will be getting for
roughly 10/20 euros more then a normal MP renewal an extra 2 copies of DMC
Enterprise plus all 3 with valid renewals and updates

I do not think many will complain about this offer

I take this opportunity to repeat that DMC works like this :
one licence in one machine or in a lan - two licenses etc .... BUT
if you have a 3 license pack and have one installed in your office computer
and another one in a laptop (or at home) that still leaves you one Portable
licence available
PLUS : if your office has say 2 computers on a LAN then DMC will see 3
copies and only one opened so if you want to open on the same machine a
second copy and a third it will accept them as legal ( even if you have
created a Portable version and installed on your laptop which is on the same
LAN) - but do not try to open and machine and laptop and one extra copies on
each machine.....only one will pass (limit being 3 on LAN) - this is secwin
.......I use it you profit from it too

For those of you with bigger needs : I came up with two other offers :
Buy a 2 copies pack and you will receive a FIVE copies licence
Buy a 5 copies pack and you will receive a TEN copies license
