Default active trace running on sql server - 07-15-2009 , 06:50 PM

Hi,
I just found out from performance dashboard that there is an active trace
running. I have no idea when it is started. Is there a way to stop the trace?
Is the tracing part of the server background process that starts
automatically when you start the server?

That is the default trace and there is no reason to stop it - it is useful
for tracking a lot of information.

I agree with Jeffrey that the default trace can be useful for forensics and
you should keep it running. See the Books Online for details on how to
retrieve the data from the live file and how to enable/disable the trace.

Hope this helps.
