All my tries to get a SQL Server 2008 installed on my Windows 7 machine failed.
I even tried the slipstreamed SP1 installation (event though it is very
anoying that i have to create this myself and not getting a properly prepared
download).
All kinds of weired errors:
- wrong registry security format
- invoke bla bla failed
- unauthroized access
Guys: for a product of this price this quality is not acceptable.

logs are very verbose and no easy reading. But it's at least a start.

I'm afraid that without specific error emssages it is difficult to help
you.

As for quality, keep in mind that SQL 2008 was released before Windows 7,
so if Win7 has some new tricks, SQL setup does not know about them.
