Hi,

I wanted to install the RTM bits of VS 2005 and SQL Server 2005. I had
installed VS 2005 Beta 2 and SQL Server Express CTP on this machine. While
unistalling SQL Server 2005 Express edition, I did the horrendous mistake of
not uninstalling in the right order. As a result, what happened is that the
SQL Express windows service still exists, while the uninstall option does not
exist in the Add/Remove program list. So, what is the solution to remove
this? Will the VS Uninstall tool help here? Anything I can do manually, or is
a re-install of the OS itself the only option in my case?

Hi Manoj,

Please use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility described in following
Knowledge Base article to uninstall the remaining SQL Server Express and
let me know whether it works

The utility cleaned up all the installer related entries and I could install
VS 2005 RTM and SQL Server 2005 RTM without any issues. The only problem (not
really one) is that I could not get the sql server 2005 express edition CTP
windows service to be uninstalled. For now, I have disabled it.
