Default SQL2005 on W2K3 R2 - 12-01-2005 , 08:46 AM

Hi,

Looks like we may be installing SQL2005 Standard on a W2K3 R2 box with 7.5Gb
of ram. I know that W2K3 R2 has not been RTM'd yet but is anyone using the
RC1 with SQL2005 and having anything to report?

Thanks

Chris Wood

Chris,

I wonder why you want to use R2. Are you using any of the new R2
features ? AS far as I know the only one vaguely related to SQL Server
would be the new SAN and Fileserver management tools , but for the rest
you wouldn't need them or even want them on a SQL server. If you want
to use some of the new features I would wait for the release version
before installing a database server on it.(Saw some scary bluescreens
when testing R2 beta).
And if you don't use any of the new features, then R2 is nothing else
than W2K3 SP1 with a new Server management wizard.
