We're beginning our migration from SQL 2000 to SQL 2008. The upgrade advisor is giving us a couple of messages that I don't know how to resolve. - "Upgrading will cause Full-Text Search to use instance-level, not global, word breakers and filters by default". We don't even use Full-Text search; is there a way to uninstall it in SQL 2000 so I don't get this message in the upgrade advisor? I tried disabling the service but that didn't help. I searched the web and found someone with a similar situation but he was never given any solution. |

- "SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services packages are not supported". I don't have any Meta Data packages. I followed the corrective actions but don't see any meta data packages to edit and save in msdb. |
|
- "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages". This server has zero DTS packages. So why do I need/want to install the designer components? |
|
- Speaking of DTS, can we still run DTS packages in legacy mode in SQL 2008, like we can in SQL 2005? We do have DTS packages on another server we'll be upgrading in the near future. |

If you don't use full-text, why bother about the message? Are you saying we should just click "resolved" and we can move on? |
|
- "SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services packages are not supported"... Good, you're all set then. Again, just click "resolved" and we're good? |

Thanks for the reply Erland. If you don't use full-text, why bother about the message? Are you saying we should just click "resolved" and we can move on? - "SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services packages are not supported"... Good, you're all set then. Again, just click "resolved" and we're good? |

I've never run the wizard, but if you feel compelled to click on "Resolved" do so. But, I mean, it's not that the police will come and get you if you don't. |
