Default SQL Service account losing password !!! sql2005 over win2k3 - 07-26-2009 , 08:46 PM

Following is happening with one instance that I manage.

Win2003 - SQL2005 Sp3 -
Using Domain service account.

When server reboots MSSQL services did not start.. message wrong password
for service account.

I put the password again and it starts..
But when it reboots .. same thing happens.

Anyone already face anything like this??

Thanks.. Rick

Hi Rick

Do you by any chance enter the password using the Services MMC? Have you
tried it using the SQL Server Configuration Manager?

entering it into service mgr or sql mgr shouldn't matter...
to be honest I have no idea what that would be. I think that's a new one on
me.

I wish I could be more help but I really don't know where to even start...
anything I say would just be a wild guess...

the MS dev team sharks the forums though so perhaps put this question to one
of the windows forums...
have you noticed this behavior with other services as well... even other sql
services, or just the mssql service itself...
if it's just this service, then maybe something's wrong with your
install????

I've seen that problem before. More than likely there is a policy pushing
down that is not granting the service account the login as a service right.
When you retype the password it grants it until the next reboot when it's
taken away again.
