I downloaded SQL Server 2008 Developer edition from microsoft Dreamspark
website and installed it and it was working fine, till some microsoft
update which happened last week i guess!
Now i am unable to connect to the Database engine and it gives me errors
like Piped Names error 40, error 2 etc... I have since then installed /
uninstalled SQL server a couple of times and each time either during
install or uninstall, it gives errors.... |
It is not entirely trivial to diagnose this, as you seem to have done
all sorts of things. The log you post is from an attempt to repair the
installation. It seems that some of the registry keys are damaged.
I think your best option is to install a second instance, and leave the
default instance in the damaged state. It is possible it can be fixed
with some registry editing, but it can be time-consuming without leading
anywhere. If you have any databases you want to keep, you can attach this
to the new instance you install.
