Default SQL Server 2005 Developers RTM and Virtual PC - 11-02-2005 , 09:01 AM

I have been trying to install SQL2k5 on a VPC with XPSP2 and all hot fixes
since SP2. It trys to install the .Net framework 2.0 and I receive an 193
error. After the first time I received this error I manually installed the
..NET framework, but I still recieved this error. Any help would be
appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi, Which version of VPC (SP1) do you use? Have you installed the actual
vmc-additions?
This could be the problem.

VPC 4.0 With SP1, and yes I have installed the extensions. I tried
installing the Framework first and that went fine, I then tried to install
the SQL Server. The installer for SQL server tried to install the Framework
again, it did not see that the machine already had framework. I did get
VS2005 and SQL Express to install in the same environement with no issues,
just have not been able to get SQL2K5 to do it.Just a little more information.

I had no problem installing it in a clean fresh XP + SP2 on an X86
system.

HOWEVER...I didn't fare quite as well with my PowerBook G4 1.67Ghz
running VPC 7.02.
I was able to install XP+SP2, and then install .NET 2/VS2005.....but
when I got to installing
SQL2K5 Express, at the end of the install it started the service, which
then immediately shut down. I followed several post that said that you
should install the SQL Server service as a "Local System" account
login, which I did. However, the same problem occurred. The service
would try starting, and during initialization, it shut itself down (
actually, upon inspection, there was an exception thrown during the
process startup ).

Anyone have any ideas what could be going on ???
