Default SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components - 04-23-2007 , 05:46 AM

I have installed the latest MS Web Data Administrator and whilst connecting
to a SQL Server 2000 instance ok, I receive the following error when
connecting to SQL Server 2005 instance :

To connect to this server you must use SQL Server Management Studio or SQL
Server Management Objects (SMO).

I have read some solutions on other forums suggesting installing "Microsoft
SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components", however I thought this
was part of SQL Server 2005 SP2 which is already installed, so I am not sure
if I should still install this?

Any suggestions welcome.

Regards
Nigel

Hello,

Query Analyzer will support SQL 2005, but not enterprisemanager or web data
admin. Please download the SQL Server management express (free tool) [SSMSE]
from microsoft site. This will help you connect SQL 2005 and SQL 2000.

Thanks
Hari
