Trying to install SQL 2008 on an out-of-the-box Dell T610 with 64 bit Server
2008 Std. and get an error saying the .NET 3.5 install failed. After some
messing around with it I checked Features and only see .NET 3.0, however
Windows Updates show .NET 3.5 SP1 installed. I removed .NET 3.0 and then
tried a .NET 3.5 install and the install failed. The event viewer shows
nothing specific about what happened and any logs are void of any meaningful
information. I finally decided to do a complete reinstall of the OS, but
I'm not confident this is going to resolve anything.
