Could someone please point out to the steps required to set up snapshot backups of live MS SQL databases residing (about a 100 in number) on a single SAN. We do not wish to bring down the database. Currently we have Netbackup 12.0 and 12.5 software and also have the additional Netbackup module prescribed by the vendor for snapshop backup. The transaction logs are placed on a different hard drive than the database itself, although both transaction logs and databases reside on the same SAN. Our current backup method is to first bring SQL down, then take a snapshopt of the actual SQL files. The recover takes hours. Any ideas to improve this situation are greatly appreciated! |
